About Bandiau Pres Cymru // Brass Bands Wales

Bandiau Pres Cymru // Brass Bands Wales is the national representative body for brass bands across Wales. We exist to promote, support, and advocate for the brass band movement, celebrating its rich heritage, strengthening its future, and amplifying the voice of Welsh bands on both national and international stages.


About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and creative PR and Communications Lead to help shape and deliver our communications strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in how BPC // BBW connects with the brass banding community, the public, and our stakeholders in education, the arts, and government.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a PR and social media strategy aligned with BPC // BBW’s aims and campaigns.
  • Manage and grow BPC // BBW’s presence across social media channels (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram and Tiktok etc).
  • Draft engaging and professional posts, press releases, and news updates about BPC // BBW activities, events, and advocacy work.
  • Coordinate media relations, preparing stories and features for local and national press.
  • Support the promotion of major events, funding calls, and banding initiatives in Wales.
  • Work with the BPC // BBW Working Group to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
  • Monitor engagement analytics and identify opportunities to grow BPC // BBW’s reach and impact.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Experience in social media management, marketing, or communications.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone and accuracy.
  • Creative flair and confidence using digital tools for scheduling and content creation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small volunteer team.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with the brass band sector, music organisations, or arts advocacy.
  • Welsh language skills (desirable but not essential).

Time Commitment

Flexible, approximately 2–3 hours per week, depending on activity level and events.
