Brass Bands Wales were delighted to accept an invitation to attend a meeting of the Cross-Party Group on Music held at the Senedd/Welsh Parliament last week. The Group, chaired by Member of the Senedd for Islwyn, Rhianon Passmore (herself a musician) was very well attended, with many diverse organisations represented. The guest speaker was the eminent Welsh conductor, Owain Arwel Hughes, who spoke passionately about the need to revitalise music provision in schools and with a particular focus on peripatetic musical tuition, to ensure the nurturing of our future musicians.

By having a seat within this group, Brass Bands Wales now has a fantastic opportunity to lobby and present the case for furthering the cause of Welsh brass bands to the people and organisations that count, including Welsh Government, Arts organisations, National Music Wales, education establishments, county and independent music services, National Youth Arts Wales, music charities, practitioners, and performers.
