Brass Bands Wales is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Angela Westacott, a true champion of youth brass banding in Wales. Angela was one of the driving forces behind the South Wales Youth Band, inspiring and nurturing countless young musicians. Her passion and dedication were instrumental in the band’s memorable performances at the European Brass Band Championships in Birmingham and Malmö, showcasing the extraordinary talent of Welsh youth banding on an International stage.
Her tireless work and unwavering commitment to brass banding have left an indelible mark on the Welsh banding community. Angela’s kindness, leadership, and belief in young players will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will live on in the music and the many lives she touched. Our thoughts are with her family and all of her friends from the brass band community at this very difficult time.
