Brass Bands Wales would like to send their very best wishes to the two bands who are representing Wales at this weekend’s European Brass Band Championships, taking place at the Brucknerhaus Concert Hall in Linz, Austria.
On Sunday, Seindorf Ieuenctid Beaumaris led by Musical Director Pete Cowlishaw, will compete in the Premier Youth Section, where they will perform a 25-minute program, including a set test piece entitled “Burn the Church!” which is an extended version of a work originally written for wind band by Austrian composer, Otto M. Schwarz.
Preceding that appearance, Tredegar Town Band, led by Ian Porthouse will challenge 14 other bands from across Europe, for the European crown in the Championship Section. On Friday they will perform the set work “Alienus” by Thomas Doss and will then return the following day to perform their own choice work.

Hoffai Bandiau Pres Cymru anfon eu dymuniadau gorau i’r ddau fand sy’n cynrychioli Cymru ym Mhencampwriaethau Bandiau Pres Ewrop y penwythnos hwn, a gynhelir yn Neuadd Gyngerdd Brucknerhaus yn Linz, Awstria.
Ddydd Sul, bydd Seindorf Ieuenctid Biwmares dan arweiniad Cyfarwyddwr Cerdd Pete Cowlishaw, yn cystadlu yn Adran Ieuenctid Premier, lle byddant yn perfformio rhaglen 25 munud, gan gynnwys darn prawf gosod o’r enw “Burn the Church!” sy’n fersiwn estynedig o waith a ysgrifennwyd yn wreiddiol ar gyfer band chwyth gan y cyfansoddwr o Awstria, Otto M. Schwarz.
Cyn yr ymddangosiad hwnnw, bydd Band Tref Tredegar, dan arweiniad Ian Porthouse, yn herio 14 o fandiau eraill o bob cwr o Ewrop, am goron Ewrop yn y Brif Adran. Ar ddydd Gwener byddant yn perfformio’r gwaith gosod “Alienus” gan Thomas Doss ac yna byddant yn dychwelyd y diwrnod canlynol i berfformio eu gwaith dewisol eu hunain.
